Not MY Daughter: “Hot Girls Wanted” Reveals America’s Unhealthy Relationship With Sex

Hot Girls Wanted even more disturbingly reveals the conflicting and confusing relationship Americans have with sex. As one of the actresses in the film points out, only in this country can our young people go to school and be told to postpone sex because it leads to pregnancy and disease, and then pull out their cell phones to see people getting it popping for free with nary a newborn or herpes outbreak in sight. You can literally have someone’s stomach turn at the twisted details of the Cleveland abduction only to later get off in secret from niche pornography that features facial abuse, extreme bondage, and prolapsed body parts. But that’s ok because it’s pretend, right? Fantasy rape= sexy. Real rape= public outcry.

I’d like to think of myself as a pretty sex-positive open-minded person. I think prostitution should be legalized and regulated and although I wouldn’t choose a career of pornography for myself or those I love, I don’t knock other women who choose it for themselves. It’s true: Everyone watches porn, but no one wants their daughter doing it.

I’m not as concerned about girls who pursue this career path, as much as I’m concerned about the types of path that exist in the industry to pursue. It’s one thing to have sex on camera. Sex is natural and should be celebrated when it’s not offensive, unsafe or degrading. But there is something severely wrong in a country where there are 116,000 searches for child pornography a day. How can we in one breath vigilantly fight against child pornography, but secretly support an industry that profits immensely from featuring adult women who appear to be “teens”. In fact in one scene, Riley, the talent agent that houses the girls after scouting them via Craigslist, tells newcomer “Brooklyn” that she can’t get breast implants until her mid-twenties when she’ll be considered a MILF, implying that she needs to keep up the illusion of being barely out of puberty. Basically, what we’re saying that it’s OK to jerk off to young women who appear to be underage as long as they are in actuality legal adults. Are you confused or disgusted yet, because I sure am.
